Getting in, first steps.
How fast can I admit?+
Same-day admission is often possible. Insurance verification completes in under 60 seconds. Travel logistics typically take a few hours for out-of-state patients. Most patients arrive within 24–48 hours of their first call. If urgent medical withdrawal is involved, our clinical team coordinates an expedited pathway. Our admissions team will tell you honestly what the realistic timeline is for your situation.
Do I need a referral to admit?+
No referral is required to begin. You can self-refer, or be referred by a clinician, interventionist, family member, or employer-assistance program. Some insurance plans require a PCP referral before inpatient authorization — our admissions team handles that paperwork on your behalf. You don’t need to jump through pre-authorization hoops before picking up the phone.
Is there a wait list?+
Admission depends on current census, clinical acuity, and level-of-care matching. Same-day admission is often possible. If we cannot admit immediately, our team tells you honestly what the timeline is — and may refer you to a trusted partner facility if waiting isn’t clinically safe. We do not use scarcity tactics.
What if I’m traveling from out of state?+
A significant percentage of our patients travel from out of state, particularly from New Jersey, Massachusetts, New York, and Texas. Our admissions team coordinates travel logistics, insurance verification, and airport pickup from Fort Lauderdale–Hollywood (FLL) or Miami International (MIA). Clinical coordination with home-state providers starts on day one.
What’s covered.
Do you accept my insurance?+
We work with most major carriers: Blue Cross Blue Shield (all state plans including Florida Blue), UnitedHealthcare, Aetna, Cigna, Tricare, Humana Military, and VA CCN. In-network vs out-of-network status depends on your specific plan. Verification takes under 60 seconds and carries zero obligation. We’ll tell you exactly what’s covered, what your deductible is, and what out-of-pocket to expect. See all carriers →
What does treatment cost?+
Cost depends on insurance coverage, plan type, deductible status, and length of stay. Most patients with insurance pay some combination of deductible and coinsurance up to their out-of-pocket maximum. Our financial counselors walk you through exact numbers before admission so there are no surprises. Verification is free and carries no obligation.
Will I lose my job if I go to treatment?+
The Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) provides job-protected leave for qualifying employees seeking medical treatment, including addiction treatment. Many employers also have Employee Assistance Programs that support treatment. Our case managers assist with FMLA paperwork and employer communication as needed — with your consent only.
The treatment itself.
What levels of care do you offer?+
Two: medical detoxification and residential inpatient treatment. We do not offer PHP, IOP, or outpatient in-house. Step-down care flows through our trusted partner network — selected providers we’ve vetted for clinical quality and warm handoff coordination. This specialization is deliberate. We believe doing two things very well produces better outcomes than running a sprawling service menu.
How long is a typical stay?+
Detox is typically 3–7 days depending on substance and medical complexity. Residential is typically 14–30 days depending on clinical progress and insurance authorization. Most patients’ total stay is 21–35 days. Stays are determined by medical necessity per ASAM criteria, not a preset calendar.
What happens during detox?+
24/7 nursing coverage, withdrawal-scale monitoring (CIWA-Ar for alcohol, COWS for opioids), medication support to manage withdrawal symptoms, nutritional rehabilitation, sleep restoration, and rest. The goal is physical stabilization and acute symptom management. Gentle therapeutic work is introduced as the patient stabilizes.
What therapies are offered in residential?+
Evidence-based modalities: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), motivational interviewing, trauma-informed care when appropriate, 12-step facilitation (optional), family therapy with consent, and psychoeducational groups. Individual therapy runs 2–3 times weekly; groups daily. Medication-assisted treatment when clinically indicated for opioid or alcohol use disorder.
Is the Medical Director involved in my care?+
Yes. Dr. Sergey Litvinov, MD — board-certified psychiatrist — oversees all medical protocols and is directly involved in clinical care. Every patient receives a psychiatric evaluation typically within 24 hours of admission. Read Dr. Litvinov’s bio →
What does detox feel like? Will I be in pain?+
Withdrawal varies by substance, duration of use, and individual physiology. Our clinical team manages symptoms aggressively — we do not believe patients should suffer to prove their commitment. Medications, hydration, nutritional support, rest, and careful monitoring keep detox as comfortable as clinically possible. Most patients are surprised by how manageable it is compared to what they feared.
Can I bring my prescription medications?+
Yes — bring all prescribed medications in their original, labeled pharmacy bottles. Our medical team reviews and continues, adjusts, or transitions medications based on your clinical picture. Never stop a medication without discussing it with our team, particularly psychiatric medications.
What can’t you treat?+
We are not equipped for patients who require inpatient psychiatric hospitalization for active psychosis, acute suicidality, severe eating disorders requiring medical hospitalization, or acute medical conditions exceeding what our clinical setting can manage safely. Our admissions team will tell you honestly if Pines isn’t the right fit and help identify a higher acuity facility.
Do you offer Spanish-language services?+
Yes. Travis Gray, LMHC, is bilingual (Spanish) and provides individual therapy in Spanish. Some group sessions are English with translation support available. Our admissions counselors can coordinate Spanish-language admission conversations.
Including the people you love.
Will my family be involved?+
With your consent, yes. Family therapy sessions, designated family-call windows, and family-day programming are all part of residential. With your written HIPAA authorization, our case management team provides weekly updates to designated family members at a level of detail you control. Patients direct the family-involvement decisions — not us. See the full Family page →
Your information.
Is my information confidential?+
Yes. All clinical records and communications are protected under HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2 — the federal regulation that specifically protects substance-use-disorder records. No protected health information is shared with advertisers, data brokers, or third parties. Every vendor touching our data signs a Business Associate Agreement. Full HIPAA notice →
How do I know you’re a legitimate facility?+
Every credential we hold is verifiable through an outside public registry: The Joint Commission Gold Seal, LegitScript certification, Florida DCF license, SAMHSA listing, DEA registration, and HIPAA compliance. Accreditation details →
After discharge.
What does aftercare look like?+
Discharge planning begins in week two of residential, not the day you leave. Your case manager coordinates with partner outpatient providers (PHP, IOP, OP), sober-living homes when appropriate, home-state psychiatrists and therapists, and medication-assisted-treatment prescribers. Aftercare page →
How do I start?+
Call (855) 981-8935. A licensed counselor answers 24/7. The first call is a conversation, not a commitment. We’ll listen, ask a few questions, verify insurance if you want, and outline options. If Pines is the right place, we move quickly. If it isn’t, we’ll say so and help you find the right place. No pressure, no script.
