Alcohol Detox & Rehab · Pembroke Pines, Florida
Alcohol rehab in Florida for when “I’ll stop tomorrow” runs out
You have probably already tried to stop on your own. Then the shaking started, or the nausea at four in the morning, and a drink was the only thing that stopped it. That is withdrawal.
Ask for admissions.
Accredited & Certified Care
Pines Recovery Life is a licensed inpatient detox and residential facility in Pembroke Pines, Florida. A physician directs the medical side, and licensed nurses staff detox around the clock.
Why detox is medically supervised
With alcohol, stopping suddenly can be more dangerous than the drinking. Seizures and delirium tremens are why this is done under medical supervision.
Here that means:
- Nurses score your withdrawal on the CIWA-Ar scale every 8 to 12 hours, and what you are given follows the score.
- A nurse assesses you about every 12 hours, through the night as well. The physician follows up daily, sooner if you get worse, and is on call overnight.
- The physician orders your medication and a licensed nurse hands it to you.
What the first days look like
The first 24 hours
Everyone gives a urine screen and a breathalyzer before admission. Then consents, a full nursing assessment, and screens for pain, falls and nutrition. A physician completes your history and physical. The psychiatric and physical examination happens within 24 hours of your arrival. Your aftercare plan starts on day one.
Days two through four
Usually the hardest stretch. Nursing checks continue overnight. Sleep is broken and you may not want to eat, so meals, fluids and appetite are tracked daily. Nobody expects you to perform in a group session while you feel like this.
The end of the first week
Symptoms ease. At the end of the first week the physician reassesses you with the clinical team and sets the next step, whether that is more time in detox or moving into residential.
Residential care with the same team
Detox ends the withdrawal. It does not touch the reason you were drinking. After detox you move into residential with the same team, and that matters: the physician who managed your withdrawal knows your history because they were there for it, understands what you have just been through, and stays with you through post-acute withdrawal, the weeks of broken sleep, anxiety and cravings that follow detox.
You get group sessions and individual therapy, drawing on cognitive behavioral therapy, relapse prevention and motivational interviewing. A licensed clinical social worker reviews every clinical note. Case management works with you on what comes after: outpatient options, sober living, and AA or NA meetings where you actually live.
Coming from out of state
A lot of the people we admit travel here from another state, and distance is part of the reason. The first sober weeks are easier when the bar you always end up in is a thousand miles away.
Before you travel, the admissions team goes through exactly what to bring and walks you through your first day here, so nothing about the trip is left to guess. Your privacy is protected the whole way through.
The campus is three buildings around a courtyard: detox at 1151 Poinciana Drive, residential at 1201, and between them the common building with the cafeteria, theater and game room.
We check your benefits first
Most major insurance plans are accepted. We check your benefits before or at the time of admission and tell you exactly what your plan covers, on the phone, before you decide anything.
Start with a call
Call (855) 981-8935. The first call is questions in both directions: what you have been drinking, for how long, what happened last time you stopped. Nothing is decided on that call.
